Turmeric--we source from many different farmers--from those who have turmeric as part of their landscape to those with larger plots as part of their total agricultural program. Here is just one of the farmers we will be using to supply your turmeric.  We do not want to partner with those who are using a mono-cropping system--using it as an understory or better yet as part of the landscape is a much more ecologically sound method of growing.

Meet our coconut oil producers, Mrs White and her daughter.  Your purchase helps to send the youngest to elementary school! First, the fully mature coconut is harvested, next, the coconut's husk is removed, they are split in half and the fresh flesh is immediately grated out of the ‘nut’. Individual batches of grated flesh (from 10 to 15 coconuts) are then dried on the stainless steel surface of an outdoor hand-made wood-fired flat top. The coconut is dried for about half an hour and then manually pressed.  The oil is then allowed to rest while the water separates, pure and simple with an amazing amount of effort!

Meet our nutmeg farmer--Mr White Our nutmeg farmers live in a community with no electricity, no running water, and no cell phone coverage.  The road to the village is nearly impassable, and the final trek takes you straight through the rain forest.  Homes have dirt floors, and thatched roofs, but the bounty of the rain forest surrounds them.

The Cohune Nut oil processing facility It happens more often that you would think...this time a EU NGO gave the village of Flowers Bank a $250,000 grant to put in a food safe processing facility to process cahune nut oil.  The only problem is that there is no market for the oil, they operate once a week to supply resorts and a small online presence, but the grant has yet to bear the fruit they had hoped for.  It is our hope that we can be a link in the chain that completes the vision.
